LOTS of Reindeer Freebies!

Tomorrow is December, and it's time to get ready for some reindeer fun!  I posted lots and lots of reindeer freebies a couple years ago, but then went back to revise the list and thought I'd share them again- new and improved. I love having fun ideas to sprinkle in throughout December, and thought you might enjoy them, too. Here are some fun activities, food, and freebies all about reindeer!

First, in case you haven't seen this yet, stop over and visit the  Reindeer Cam!  I love having this up during Free Choice time.  Santa comes out Mon-Fri at 11am, 6pm & 9pm, and weekends at 6pm (Eastern Time).  We have our Center Time at 11- but we may just need to watch Santa come feed his reindeer on some days. Last year, this was Free Choice time, so it worked great, but we will make it work. It is sort of the "Common Core of Life" that we see Santa feed his reindeer if we get a chance, don't you think?  It is so precious. He goes over and checks his "Nice List" (right over by the barn door,) and he waves to the camera. Knowing Santa is watching is always a great reminder for the kids...

Of course I got on today right at 11 to take this screen picture of him waving, to put on here, and one of the reindeer backed into the camera and started peeing.  You just never know.

On to some crafts...

I always have my class make these cute hand and feet reindeer. They trace their hands and feet and cut. So easy.  The hardest part is deciding what shade of brown paper they want for the antlers and the face.   These are from Little Miss Glamour Goes to Kindergarten.  I can never decide if I like the noses at the end of the "foot" or in the middle. I always let the children choose.  I bring my hot glue gun to put the pompom noses on.  Otherwise, they tend to fall off with regular glue.

This is a cute Christmas Rudolph Hand and Foot poem from  Little Stars Learning that you could use to go with this activity.

Kids Activity Blog had another cute option.  I like his eyes.

I also have the children trace their hands to make their reindeer hats.  So simple. They trace two hands, cut them and we staple them onto a brown band.  Their "Rudolph nose" is dollar store red lipstick.  It works great, and they think it is so much fun. Yes- even the boys. I use a Q-tip to put it on their noses.

This picture is from Squidoo.  I just use a brown strip of paper instead of red, and the kids choose the shade of brown for their antlers.

You can also make the hats with the faces on them, like these from Discover Explore Learn if you don't want to go the lipstick route.

Then, we all sing Rudolph with our hats on in a circle.  Just for fun.  It just seems like the  thing to do.

We also make these reindeer ornaments.  I don't even paint the popsickle sticks. Even easier!  This Rudolph ornament is from Kiboomu.

This Rudolph Peanut Ornament is also from Kiboomu. I think it is so precious!
