Five for Friday!

This is our last full week of school.  :)  Wow.  This year flew by, but I have to say the children are ready for a break. (We all are- but I am going to miss this little crew!)   I am linking up with Doodle Bugs Teaching for Five for Friday!

Here are my favorites from the week.

1.  It was my birthday! :)  There is nothing like spending a birthday with 5 and 6 year olds! I got many, many hugs, cards, homemade gifts... and they never walked down the hall more quietly than when I did my magic, "Birthday POOF" over the line to quiet them down. Unfortunately, it is only once a year... but  I use the magic "POOF" any chance I get when we line up to quiet down- "Snowflake POOF," "Lunch POOF," "Tuesday POOF,"  and when they need it the most "SUPER POOF."  For some reason, it holds magical quieting powers.  OH and the best part is when they ask how old I am and I say, "How old do you THINK I am?" and they say, "Twenty?"  YEP!  :)   After school, I went out to dinner with my family and my parents and we had a great night.   :)

2.  It was OUTSIDE FUN DAY at school! Since it was on Flag Day, our class was Patriotic!

The children had a blast- as always.  We did relay races, tug of war, a sponge relay, dunk tank, face painting, obstacle course (This year with indoor bouncy houses! SO FUN!), and the favorite- the water slide!
It is an exhausting day for everyone with lots of laughs! We only stopped moving ONCE- and that was to eat a birthday cupcake for one of my little girls, so I am thinking there will be some good sleepers tonight! (Including meeee...)

3.  We finished up our Father's Day books.  We decorated a "My Special Dad" book, wrote and illustrated some pages.   Here are some favorites:

 "Go do your chores!"
He told me that "maybe" always means yes. :)

This says, "No way, Jose' "

I think this dad loves rootbeer!

I loved how she spelled ravioli.

Jim Gaffigan would  be proud of this dad, lovin those hot pockets!
Now I know where this little girl gets her love of shopping and fashion!

Four-wheel on our four-wheelers
I am thinking that this little girl's poppy LOVES to golf! :)

Happy Father's Day to my wonderful dad!  He is practically perfect in every way (like Mary Poppins says!).  Maybe completely perfect!  He is so kind, loving, giving, patient- I don't think he has ever said a bad word in his life or even done anything wrong ever! And yes... I am exactly like my mom!  HA HA- but... she is equally as wonderful- so ... I am VERY BLESSED!!! (Rereading that it makes it sound very cocky, like I am saying I am wonderful just like my mom- but... you get it- :)
Mom and Dad!

4.  This weekend is the 33rd Annual Strawberry Festival in our town. It is a big deal around here!  Friday night is the block party. My husband and I always love walking around and seeing people.  I love the parade because so many of my kids are in it- and are always SO amazed to see me outside of the classroom!  :)

5. Here is my favorite school story of the week.  I had the children write an "About Me" paper during center time.  One line to finish was, "I am scared of______."  Most children wrote the dark or ghosts. One little girl wrote, "screeming gotes."  I kind of laughed out loud and said, "Are  you really scared of screaming goats?" And she said, "Yes.  They are real, you know.  And they are horrifying."  I don't know if I was more amused by her choosing screaming goats or her using the word "horrifying" to describe them.  :)  Here is a link just for  her- well, not REALLY! She would be HORRIFIED!  Just in honor of her story- that's better!

Have a fun weekend! :)

  3. Hello Carolyn! Okay, so I want to go down that water slide!!! Do they allow the teachers to participate? What fun!! I'm afraid of screaming goats now too! Your parents look so sweet. I was also blessed with wonderful parents. They are responsible for my happy childhood for sure. Happy weekend!

    1. Thank you, Sandy! YES! Teachers can go down the water slide! I just didn't dare leave a few of mine alone at the bottom once they came down! (Plus I had one little sweetie with a cast on her arm who was my "watching buddy.") Thank you so much for writing. I LOVE to hear from you!

  4. Cute Five for Friday. Yes the slide was awesome, so is all the writing. If my daughter had a page quoting her dad, it would be "Let's talk to Mommy about that." Pass the buck :) .
Glad you had a great birthday week.
